1.50 Cheltenham-Class 2 Handicap Chase
The first of four live races on ITV4 at the Cheltenham November Meeting on Friday is the 2 mile BetVictor Handicap Chase at 1.40. It is disappointing from an each way betting perspective that only 7 will line up at the start. This looks a very tricky heat for punters. Bun Doran has yet to win on good ground so he looks opposable at just 3/1.
Shanahan’s Turn has flopped on all his previous runs at Cheltenham, while last season’s winner Doitforthevillage has a poor record fresh. Our recommendation is a small each way bet on impressive last time out winner Movie Legend for Lucy Wadham and Leighton Aspell. He will love the ground and a stiff test over 2 miles should suit. At odds of 15/2 he could be dangerous off the same mark as when winning at Wetherby last season.
TXOdds’ Cheltenham Racing Tip: Movie Legend E/W @ 15/2
2.25-Cheltenham-Class 2 Novices’ Chase
The second live ITV4 race at Cheltenham on Friday is a 20f Novices’ Chase and again only 7 will go to post for this contest. The current favourite Mr Whipped has won on good to soft, but his best form has come on soft. He was also well below par on his only previous run at Cheltenham. White Moon is a horse with huge potential but he has been off for nearly a year. He might just need this outing from a fitness perspective.
At a massive price Graasten looks a fascinating contender for Gary and Joshua Moore. He was a facile winner on his chase debut in a weak race at Fontwell and he ran a lovely race here last month when a slight mistake at the 2nd last cost him dearly. Though he wasn’t as good as some of his rivals over hurdles he could put it up to them as he has race fitness on his side. His career form figures over jumps on good ground read 311. At a monster price of 22/1 he could give each way players a run for their money.
TXOdds’ Cheltenham Racing Tip: Graasten E/W @ 22/1 NB
3.00-Cheltenham-Class 2 Cross Country Handicap Chase
Another disappointingly small turnout for this marathon 30f cross country chase with just 7 declared runners. Aintree Grand National winner Tiger Roll won over these fences at the festival back in March, but he has tended to need his comeback run in recent seasons. Off top weight his odds of 6/4 look too skinny. His stable companion Bless The Wings has also tended to need his first run back.
One horse that will have no issues on the fitness front is the Enda Bolger trained 10yo Josies Orders. Bolger is no stranger to success in these Cross Country Races and Josies Orders had a spin over hurdles at Galway last month to put him right for this. Off a mark of 144 this three time course and distance winner looks dangerously well treated. At odds of 5/2 he is the TXOdds’ NAP of the day.
TXOdds’ Cheltenham Racing Tip: Josies Orders @ 5/2 NAP
3.35-Cheltenham-Grade 2 Novices’ Hurdle
There is a bit of relief for each way punters in the final live ITV4 race of the day. Nine horses go to post for the 21f Grade 2 Novices’ Hurdle at 3.35. This looks an extremely open race. Nestor Park could be the one to be on for Ben Pauling and David Bass. This 5yo son of Walk In The Park won a hot bumper at Ascot back in November on his second career start.
He was highly tried on his next two outings, including when well beaten in the Champion Bumper. However the ground was too soft for him on both occasions. The return to better ground should really suit Nestor Park and his trainer had a nice winner at Hereford earlier this week. There is stamina in his pedigree so the step up in trip could suit and at odds of 16/1 he is the each way selection.
TXOdds’ Cheltenham Racing Tip: Nestor Park E/W @ 16/1
