Cheltenham Tips: 1.50-Grade 3 BetVictor Handicap Chase
The opening live race this Saturday on ITV is the 27f BetVictor Handicap chase. 16 horses will go to post for this Grade 3 contest. Former Gold Cup hero Coneygree carries top weight and it will be fascinating to see if he retains any of his old ability. He is up against some serious opposition though, including the likes of Cogry, Vicente, Calett Mad and The Young Master.
The one we like at a nice each way price is Perfect Candidate for Fergal O’Brien and Paddy Brennan. They combined for two winners on Day 1 and at odds of 20/1 Perfect Candidate could give them more to shout about. He won this race last year off 152 and he is 2lb lower now. He had a run last month to blow away the cobwebs and good ground suits. Perfect Candidate is a confident each way selection at odds of 20/1.

Cheltenham Tips: 2.25-Grade 3 BetVictor Gold Cup
With a pot of over £160k up for grabs, this Grade 3 handicap chase over 20f will be one of the most keenly contested races at Cheltenham’s November Meeting. With 20 horses lining up finding the winner isn’t going to be an easy task. Rather Be is the current favourite at 5/1 but in races like this backing one at bigger odds each way usually makes sense, particularly with extra places available.
At a monster price we think Geordie Des Champs could run a big race for Rebecca Curtis and Niall ‘Slippers’ Madden. This strong travelling son of Robin Des Champs possesses plenty of ability. He went well for a long way before tiring over 3 miles on his seasonal return at Ascot. He only has a length to find with Rather Be on their meeting over hurdles on good ground over this trip at Aintree. However, Geordie Des Champs is 11lb better off with that rival here. The drop back in trip will suit, as will the ground, and at 40/1 (6 places BetVictor) he is our each way pick.

Cheltenham Tips: 3.00-Listed Handicap Hurdle
This 3 mile Listed handicap hurdle looks another tricky betting heat and a case can be made for quite a few of them. Martin Keighley is a trainer that has a good record at Cheltenham (18 career winners) and Buckle Street could be worth chancing in this contest. Harry Stock claims a valuable 5lb and he has ridden Buckle Street to victory before.
This three time winning son of Cacique has failed to fire so far this season. However, he showed definite signs of life last time when he was 6th in a competitive handicap hurdle at Aintree. He is only a pound higher than he was for his last win which came off a mark of 127. Also, he has run well on three of his four visits to Cheltenham. Buckle Street likes good ground, he will get the trip and at odds of 20/1 he could go well for each way backers.

Cheltenham Tips: 3.30-Class 2 Handicap Hurdle
The final live ITV race of the day from Cheltenham is a 21f Handicap Hurdle that has attracted a field of 15 horses. Very useful flat handicapper Speedo Boy has attracted support and looks likely to go off favourite at around 3/1. However, our each way fancy is Lungarno Palace for in form Fergal O’Brien and Alain ‘Squeaky’ Cawley.
This lad ran a massive race here off a mark of 127 over this course and distance last time. He races off the same rating today. Lungarno Palace was slightly hampered early on but he stayed on well for 4th and was only beaten 5L. We think he looks overpriced at 20/1 and at that price he is well worth chancing each way.
