Some horses with serious festival ambitions will be running at Kempton on Saturday. Three races will be broadcast live on ITV4, including the Lanzarote Hurdle. You can read our preview of that race by clicking here. Our horse racing analyst Dave Stevos has had a look through the card and you can check out his Kempton Saturday tips below…

Kempton Saturday Tips

Kempton Saturday Tips: 2.05 32Red Casino Chase (Listed)

The unseasonably dry weather has robbed punters of the chance to see Waiting Patiently in action. It is hard to believe that Kempton Park has had to water to maintain good ground at this time of the year. Even so, five horses will go to post for this 20.5f Listed Chase and it is a quality field.

The bookies are struggling to separate Top Notch (6/4) and Charbel (13/8) at the head of the market. Don’t be fooled though, because this is far from a two horse race. Black Corton is interesting dropped back in trip and returning to good ground. Speredek could get an easy lead out in front and four of his six wins have come in fields of six or less.

However, he would have preferred a drop of rain to fall and the one that looks way overpriced is Hammersly Lake. This grand old 11yo loves good ground and gave Charbel 5lb and a near 6 length beating at Perth in September. His last two runs on good or better at 20f have produced RPRs of 162.

Yielding and good to soft ground excuse his last three runs, while another positive is that all six of his UK wins have come in small fields. Top Notch has never won unless there has been soft in the ground description. At odds of 33/1 Hammersly Lake could go well and a reverse forecast with Charbel is the advised bet.

Kempton Saturday Tips: 3.15 Handicap Chase (Class 2)

This 3 mile handicap chase has attracted a field of seven runners and Barney Dwan is the 3/1 favourite. He stepped up on his seasonal return with a fine effort behind Yala Enki last time at Bangor. Off the same rating here he looks sure to run a big race. Glen Rocco is another one that looks to have a fine chance upped in trip.

He stayed on well last time here over 20f and he shaped as though further would suit. However, his best form has come on easier ground than he will encounter at Kempton. At the prices, we think Minella Daddy is worth a punt. This fella ran a huge race on his last visit to this track off a mark of 136 (24f gd).

He has been dropped a pound to 135 after a couple of poor runs since, but his comeback run was too bad to be true and he may have needed a second run to properly blow away the cobwebs. Peter Bowen’s string is in good shape and Minella Daddy could go well with his son Sean Bowen in the plate. At odds of 10/1 he is the each way suggestion in an open looking race.
