Meydan Thursday Tip: Earnshaw Can Go Well For Barzalona

Flat racing fans can get their fix of first class racing every week at Meydan. There is a very good card of action there this Thursday and the feature race is the Group 2 at 4.15. However, our main fancy of the day goes in the following race, a 10f handicap. We were out of luck at the weekend, but hopefully this 16/1 shot gets us back on track. Check out Dave Stevos’ Meydan Thursday tip below…

Meydan Thursday Tip: 4.50 Azizi Star Handicap (95-105)

It is difficult to believe that Earnshaw has won just 2 races during his 27 race career. It is over five years since he last tasted success in a Group 3 at Saint Cloud. However, he has some seriously strong form in the book, especially around here. He ran a lovely race on his first outing for his new trainer Sandeep Jadhav earlier this month.

He was miles back early under Mickael Barzalona, but he shaped nicely enough overall. That run came over 12f off a mark of 107 and he has been dropped to 104. That enables him to drop into a 105 is top handicap for the first time. Another plus is the drop back to 10f, as some of his best form at Meydan has come at the trip.

This will be his easiest race for some time. He was beaten less than 2L over 10f here in a Group 3 only three runs back, earning an RPR of 111, just 2lb below his best. He has had just two runs in handicaps during his career but they were in better quality races than this one. If Mickael Barzalona can time his challenge right, Earnshaw could go very close at odds of 16/1.
